2nd quarter planning

Good morning, Queens.

I’m still in bed, warm sheets, twisted bun, candle lit, and my two planners right here next to me. Why? Because after a long week and a packed weekend, I’m resting intentionally, but I’m also handling business.

So should you!

If you’re procrastinating…
sit your ass down and plan your quarter, don’t expect life to magically organize itself.

We are not living on vibes and blind ambition. We are high-performing, luxury-minded women. That means: structure.

I call this "in-bed planning." It's simple:
You don’t need to be at a desk or in an office to get serious about your goals. You just need your planner, some peace, and some damn discipline.

Here’s how I’m planning my 2nd Quarter, and I want you to try it too:

1. Use Two Planners. Yes, Two. Don’t argue.

  • A5 6-Ring Planner (Personal Life)
This is my go-everywhere planner. It's slim enough to throw in my bag when I’m running errands, but structured enough to capture quick thoughts, appointments, shopping lists, and therapy notes. I use inserts for:

    • Morning rituals

    • Meal prep notes

    • Grocery list (organized by aisle, I don’t play)

    • Dates to remember

    • My cycle and my mood (ladies, track your energy)

The key to loving your A5 is to actually use it daily. Don’t just decorate it, write in it.

    • Keep it by your bed

    • Toss it in your tote bag

    • Use it in the car (parked, of course) to brain-dump before meetings

  • Classic Portfolio (Business Life)
This one stays at home. This is for strategy, revenue, and execution.
    I divide it by:

    • Monthly Business Goals

    • Weekly Income Targets

    • Team Notes / Contractor Tasks

    • Course Planning + Launch Dates

    • My CEO Journal (yes, I document how I feel about each week’s performance)

Every Sunday evening, I flip through both planners side by side, looking for alignment. If my personal life is out of control, my business will feel it, and vice versa. This system keeps me mentally sharp and emotionally clean.

2. Staying Consistent is a Choice, Not a Mood.

You want the truth? I don’t always feel like opening my planner.
Sometimes I want to scroll. Sometimes I want to zone out.
But I remind myself: Discipline feels better than chaos.

Here’s how I stay consistent:

  • I plan in bed. Every Sunday. No shame.

  • I set a 20-minute timer. Just 20 minutes can shift your entire week.

  • I color-code with highlighters, it makes the page inviting.

  • I add sticky notes when I don’t want to commit to writing in ink.

  • I write down wins. Every. Damn. Week. Even the small ones.

Planning isn't cute. It's survival.
You either run your week, or your week will run you into the ground.

We are not little girls playing dress-up with planners. We are women building legacies, and that requires energy, clarity, and command over our lives.

So take a morning, like today.
Stay in bed.
Open that A5. Open that Classic Portfolio.
And get your life in order like the Queen you claim to be.

With power, peace, and a silk pillow under my head,
Shanelle Black
